Why I Became a Therapist
Life happens in a series of moments that are both beautiful and painful at times. These moments have a way of cumulating in our bodies and memories and impact our day to day calm, peace and happiness. We may feel irritable or struggle with worries that we are not sure why they are there.
I’m Jackie Boyer a Registered Social Worker with over 25 years of experience supporting individuals and couples through life’s challenges and transitions. Over the years, I’ve learned that healing happens in the presence of trust, and genuine connection. I believe that a warm, supportive relationship is at the heart of meaningful therapy.
I became a therapist because I deeply understand how layered and complex life can be. Over the years, I’ve navigated my own journey of healing and growth — learning that creating a well-lived life takes intention, courage, and support. These experiences shaped my belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive, not just survive. I know how easy it can be to get caught in patterns of doing, coping, and carrying for others while losing touch with our own needs and sense of balance. My work is rooted in the belief that with the right support and connection, it’s possible to move beyond survival mode and build a life that feels grounded, meaningful, and fully your own.
I value the therapy space as a time to pause, process, and gently move through the places where we feel stuck. I see healing as a holistic process — one that involves calming and reconnecting the body, mind, and spirit. In our work together, I aim to create an environment that feels safe, nurturing, and restorative, where you can slow down, breathe, and begin to make sense of your experiences. Together, we’ll explore what’s been weighing on you and work toward balance, self-understanding, and a renewed sense of peace and possibility.
What I Bring to My Practice
Together, we’ll create a path forward that feels authentic and empowering — one that reflects your values, your voice, and your goals.
In our work together, you can expect compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. I’ll meet you where you are, moving at your pace, and honouring what matters most to you. My approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, drawing from evidence-based practices and years of real-world experience to help you gain clarity, build resilience, and reconnect with your inner strength.
I use evidence based therapy techniques such as EMDR, Brain Spotting, CBT, DBT, IFS and Poly Vagal. I draw upon IMAGO theory with an Attachment lens when completing couples counselling.
In my extensive work experience I have worked in children's mental health, child welfare and the education system to expanded my skill set to support children, youth, adults and couples. I am trained in suicide intervention, restorative practices, traumatic event responses and violence threat risk assessment level 2.

Core Beliefs That Guide Our Work
Come As You Are
You don't need to have it all figured out before we start. Bring your mess, your questions, and your doubts - that's exactly where real healing begins.
Progress Not Perfection
Healing isn't a straight line and that's perfectly okay. I'm here to walk with you through tough moments and celebrate every small win along the way.
Your Truth Matters
Your feelings are valid even when they're complicated. I'm here to listen to your real story without trying to fix or judge you in any way.
We're In This Together
This isn't about me having all the answers while you listen. We figure things out together using your wisdom and my experience as our guide.
You're Already Enough
The strength you need is already inside you right now. My job is to help you rediscover what you're truly capable of, not change who you are.

Find Strength in Being Seen
Reaching out for support takes courage, and by being here, you’ve already taken an important first step.
Together, we’ll create a path forward that feels authentic and empowering — one that reflects your values, your voice, and your goals. In our work, you can expect compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. I’ll meet you where you are, moving at your pace, and honouring what matters most to you.
You deserve to be heard, supported, and guided in a space that is safe and nonjudgmental. You are not alone, and you can find the clarity and resilience to move forward.
